The ordering process
After ordering a photo you will receive an email with the order confirmation. Please make sure that it does not accidentally end up in your spam folder.
If you have ordered a biometric passport or visa photo we will first perform a suitability check. If your photo is meets our requirements we will proceed with image retouching.
If your photo is not suitable for the intended purpose, it can simply be exchanged. We will inform you of this by e-mail. Therefore, check your e-mail inbox and your spam folder the day after your order.
We edit every single photo to put you in the limelight and to ensure acceptance by the authorities.
Orders with express option are prioritized, i.e. processed within 48 hours and sent by e-mail and/or A Mail, respectively. It's the fastest option.
All orders can be paid by bank transfer, Twint, PostFinance Ex-Payment, SOFORT Banking or PayPal.

What is idphoto?
idphoto is a professional service provider that supports you in creating photos for your passport, identity card, driver's license and many other purposes. Start by uploading your photo and follow the instructions - it's just a few steps to the perfect picture.
What is a suitablity check?
We make sure that your picture meets the requirements of a biometric passport photo. We control each photo individually to ensure that it is definitely accepted by the authorities. If your photo does not meet our requirements, we will contact you immediately and you can upload a new photo at any time.
From which countries can I order?
We send your photos to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein guaranteed within four days.
Is the Adobe Flash plugin needed?
Adobe Flash is not required for our idphoto creator. Modern browsers allow you to upload and edit your images without Adobe Flash. However, our idphoto creator is also available in Adobe Flash. You will need Adobe Flash version 9 or newer.
Can I use photos taken with my smartphone?
Of course! Use functions such as autofocus, self-timer or flash. A good illumination of the face is important to avoid shadows! To get the best reult take the picture during the day and look towards a window. Positioning in front of the camera also plays an important role. Use a Selfie-Stick or ask a person for help.
Do I need a biometric passport photo for my identity card?
Yes, biometric passport photos are required for identity cards and passports.
How much does the idphoto service cost?
With the idphoto creator you can crop your photos to the desired passport photo or visa size.
Would you like to check your pictures for suitability, have them professionally processed and receive them in perfect quality? - Your photos in the digital version are already available from CHF 16.90. For physical prints you pay from CHF 6.90/pair. You can find more information on our homepage.
Can I also order passport photos in special formats?
With our idphoto creator you can create photos in all conceivable formats. Our software supports you in the selection of all international passport photo sizes. If you need a special format, please contact us. We will be happy to take care of your request.
Security related questions
What happens to my uploaded photos?
Your images will NOT be passed on to third parties and will be automatically deleted from our servers after 30 days. The time period begins with the processing of your order.
What happens to my personal data?
Your photos are used only for processing and are automatically deleted from our servers after 30 days. Your order and contact details are stored separately and encrypted in a database. For accounting purposes we are obliged to save your billing data for 10 years.
How is my data protected?
Our website is accessible via https and SSL-encrypted. All data transmitted between browser and website is protected according to current standards. The data collected during the order process is stored and encrypted in separate databases. idphoto employees comply at all times with the provisions of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
