The current passport or pass 10 is equipped with a chip, on which additional electronic data is stored on. These can be contactlessly read out over a small distance to the corresponding terminals.
The data include fingerprints and a facial image in order to increase the security of the travel document and to prevent or hamper their forgery.
The pass 10 has been issued for the first time on March 1, 2010.
